Review: Stila ‘In The Light’ Palette

I am a big fan of warm, neutral eye shadows, and I had planned on treating myself to the Urban Decay Naked 2 Palette when I got to Greece in August. However, when Tori started raving about the Stila ‘In The Light’ palette, I knew my fate was sealed: ten glorious eye shadows and one eyeliner all encased in beautiful champagne-coloured packaging…sign me up!

Morning-After Make-up

Morning-After Make-Up | All Dolled Up

This past Saturday was my hen party, a Clueless-themed bash of epic proportions, expertly organised by Camilla and the other bridesmaids. It goes without saying that it was a day filled with lots of fun, laughter, good food and plenty of champagne. After 14 solid hours of heavy duty girl time, I was understandably exhausted the next morning when I awoke early to attend my niece’s second birthday party. You can only imagine what state I was in when I stumbled out of the shower and prepared to make myself presentable, and quickly decided that I would need some industrial-strength…

Coming Soon: Korres

Last year I went on holiday to Greece with my family, and one of the hotels we stayed at stocked Korres products as the complimentary bathroom goodies. I knew a bit about this Greek pharmacy brand from my London days, but for some reason I never got around to trying them. Well, what I fool I was! After sampling a few of the products in the hotel, a new-found obsession was born: I made a point of visiting every Greek pharmacy I could find to stock up on shampoos, conditioners, body washes, lotions and make-up. We’re off to Greece for…

Brand I Wish Was in SA: Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory

Soap & Glory is a brand that succeeds where so many others have failed, by producing brilliant make-up and cosmetics that are just as effective as their scrumptious bodycare products. I can’t think of another brand that does this (certainly not at this price point), and definitely not with such flair – have you seen the packaging?! They describe themselves as “a fun, fresh, fearless, fantastic British beauty brand created by suds-loving entrepreneur and celebrity facialist Marcia Kilgore.” They also recommend “applying products with happiness and abandon, because while beauty absolutely matters, it doesn’t matter absolutely.” I couldn’t agree more.…

The Empties

It’s not often that I finish a product – I usually lose interest half way through and then either leave it lingering on my bathroom shelf, or pawn it off onto one of my friends (thank goodness for Jules and Jes). However, in a rare turn of events, I have managed to finish not one, but EIGHT products simultaneously! Here’s the run down of ‘The Empties’…

Online Obsession: What’s in my Handbag

What's In My Handbag

You know when you stumble across a website and think “ooh, this is interesting” and then three hours later you’re still on it? Well, that’s how I feel about What’s in my Handbag. It brings together two of my favourite types of content – other people’s beauty products and recommendations in an editorial format – to create an extremely addictive online magazine. You can browse through the handbags of beauty gurus like Charlotte Tilbury, Tanya Burr and Caroline Hirons, and see what essentials they cart around on a daily basis. You’ll spot plenty of cult classics like Elizabeth Arden Eight Hour…

What To Pack: Girls Weekend Away

This past weekend a group of us girls made our way down to Grotto Bay Private Nature Reserve to celebrate our darling Natalie’s 25th birthday (sweet man, she’s still so tiny!). It was a weekend filled with good food, great wine, lots of laughing and, of course, elasticated waistbands. For weekends like this, minimal/no make up is the order of the day, but since the whole weekend was being documented and I didn’t want to look like a complete dog, I had to pack a few basics. Here’s what made the cut…

Friday Lust: Cult Beauty Wishlist

What would Friday be without a little product lust, am I right? Cult Beauty is, without question, my favourite beauty website – it stocks the most elite products, which have been tried and tested by industry professionals, so you know you’re getting the very best. I have been known to cruise the site obsessively, earmarking all the products I’m desperate to try (problems).  Sadly, it seems that I have been able to exercise restraint for once in my life (I can neither confirm nor deny that this restraint was brought on by the exchange rate), so these beauties will have to…

Review: The Body Shop Shampoo & Conditioner

The Body Shop Rainforest Shampoo and Conditioner

I recently decided to try a few more products from The Body Shop, a brand that I feel dwells in the limbo of being established and well respected, but maybe a little bit forgotten as new, more exciting eco-friendly brands become the norm. The Body Shop is the original, natural and ethical beauty brand, and really were light years ahead of their time when they launched in 1976. Since then they’ve become synonymous with fair trade, environmental friendliness and cruelty-free beauty. Even though most new brands claim to have these values (since it’s so very fashionable these days!), few truly…
